The zipper is one of the ten inventions convenient for people's life in modern times. It is relying on the continuous arrangement of chain teeth, so that the items together or separate the connector, is now a large number of clothing, packaging, tents and so on. The convenience of zipper makes it widely used in clothing. It makes the opening and closing of clothes more convenient and fast, but sometimes the zipper is not obedient.
Here's what you need to know about zippers to help you solve all of your zipper problems.
1. Poor zipper pulling
The zipper of clothes, bags and pants will be blocked by dampness, rust and oxidation. Sometimes the zipper can not be pulled open, or the pull is not smooth, this is not to pull the pull head, which may make the chain tooth deformation or fall off. Can pull the head back to a certain distance and then pull forward, if there is still no improvement, at this time with candles or soap and other lubricating objects in the two rows of chain teeth painted back and forth a few times, and then slide back and forth to pull the head a few times, so the opening and closing is very smooth.
2. The zipper grabs the string or fabric
It is very common in life that the zipper bites the thread belt or cloth, resulting in the phenomenon that the pull head cannot move. The generation of this kind of phenomenon may be because the space quantity of good cloth belt is not reserved when sewing and make pull head cannot be used smoothly, thus clip the cloth around, another reason is because of improper use. Encounter this kind of circumstance, want to avoid to pull forcibly pull a head, this meeting bites deeper more, probably spent a long time also cannot pull a head normally, destroy cloth even. The correct way to do this is to pull the head backwards while gently removing the cloth.
3. Zipper is loose
After metal zipper is used for a long time, the pull head will become loose, the inner diameter of the pull head will become larger, and the bite of the chain teeth will not be close enough. At this point we need tools to solve the problem. Clamp the end of the drawing head with tweezers and slowly tighten it, be careful not to exert too much force to prevent the drawing head from deformation.
4. Drop the slide
When the zipper breaks or falls, opening and closing the zipper will not be a good experience. Because a single pull head, more difficult to achieve the grasp of the hand pull. This is when you need to find an alternative as a puller. You can choose similar items such as paper clips, key rings, string, etc. It only takes a few minutes to attach it to the zipper and the zipper will open and close properly.
5. Zipper slides down
You've no doubt seen it happen. Zippers slide down when they close. When this happens to jeans or pants, it can be really painful and embarrassing. What to do? The only way to eliminate this completely is to replace the zipper. A temporary solution, however, is to get a key ring, put it on the slide, and then fasten the key ring to the button of your trousers so it won't slide any further. Or make a hook out of a rubber band, tie it to a zipper and hang it from the button of your pants. This can also solve the problem temporarily.
6. Chain teeth are deformed or missing
Zippers can deform or fall off due to improper pulling or squeezing. Once the chain teeth skew or fall off, the zipper will not open and close smoothly and may even burst. If the chain tooth is skewed, that is, the tooth is out of place, then use pliers to gently correct the crooked tooth and move it back to its original position. If the chain-teeth are missing, you can sew a stop similar to the upper and lower stop to make the zipper shorter. However, this only works if the chain-tooth gap is close to the cloth head or if the zipper shortening also works normally.
When all else fails, it's time to consider replacing the whole zipper and installing a new one. In order to ensure the normal use of zippers, consumers should use and maintain zippers reasonably and correctly. For more tips on zippers, please consult SWELL.
