The Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, has announced that “important” textile companies are promoting a project to manufacture 100 million hygienic masks, of which five million will be produced as early as next week. This has been detailed in his appearance at the Commission of the branch of the Congress of Deputies, where he pointed out that these masks “will take on more prominence” as a result of the entry into force this Thursday of the obligation to use them on public roads.
After pointing out that there are different “offers in the market” for these products, the Health Minister has revealed that “different national producers have been added to their manufacture”. Among them, the fashion sector. So much so, that it has stated that groups in the textile world are developing a project to manufacture a total of 100 million of these hygienic masks. And it will be imminent.
According to Illa, the production of five million would begin next week, which will increase “to 10 million a week once production stabilizes.” These masks will be distributed through large commercial areas and establishments of different companies.
In addition, said the minister, these companies “plan” to distribute reusable masks through pharmaceutical channels in early June.
